Your septic tank fills up a little every day. You can't see it. You can't smell it. Until one morning the toilet won't flush and the shower drain is full of gray water.

Pumping on schedule stops that from happening. Most Northern Nevada homes need a pump-out every 3 to 5 years. We send a licensed, state-permitted truck to your property, pump the tank down, and tell you what shape it's in.

What's included

  • Locate and uncover the tank lids (we can probe for buried lids)
  • Pump every compartment, solids and scum layer included
  • Check inlet and outlet baffles and the effluent filter
  • Look for signs of drainfield trouble: standing water, backflow, odors
  • Written notes with tank size and a recommended next pump date

Signs you need this

  • It's been 3 or more years since the last pump-out
  • Slow drains in tubs, sinks, or toilets
  • Gurgling sounds in the plumbing
  • Sewage smell near the tank or in the yard
  • Soggy, extra-green grass over the tank or drainfield
  • You're buying or selling the home

How often should you pump?

It depends on tank size and how many people live in the house. A 1,000-gallon tank with 4 people usually needs pumping every 3 years. A couple in a 1,500-gallon tank can often go 5 years.

Garbage disposals, long showers, and laundry all add up. If you use a disposal, plan on pumping more often.

Why Northern Nevada tanks need extra care

Our high-desert soils range from tight clay to fast-draining sand and gravel. Many valley homes also sit on wells. A neglected tank pushes solids into the drainfield, and nitrate from failing systems has already shown up in groundwater in valleys like Spanish Springs, Cold Springs, and Carson Valley.

A pump-out every few years costs a few hundred dollars. A new drainfield can cost $10,000 or more. Pumping is the cheap part.

Septic Tank Pumping cost

Most residential pump-outs in Northern Nevada run about $400 to $700. Price depends on tank size, how far the truck travels, and whether the lids need digging up. You get the price before the truck rolls.

Common questions

How long does septic pumping take?

Most pump-outs take 30 to 60 minutes once the lids are open. Digging up buried lids adds time.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. If the lids are easy to reach and the gate is open, many jobs can be done while you're away. We'll confirm when we book.

Can you pump in winter?

Yes, on most days. Deep snow or frozen ground over the lids can slow things down, so try not to wait until it's an emergency.

Will pumping fix a slow drain?

If the tank is full, yes. If the problem is a clogged line or a failing drainfield, pumping helps short-term and we'll tell you what else we see.

Tank full? Drains slow? Don't wait for the backup.
